HERE’S HOW WE DO IT AT KANAK NATURALS
RENEWABLE MATERIALS
After sugarcane juice is extracted from the plant, we upcycle the stalk, which would have been burned or ended up in a landfill, into beautiful molded fiber dinnerware. Renewable materials like sugarcane and bamboo are some of the strongest fibers out there. They make great molded fiber products that hold up to just about anything. Best of all, these materials create less waste than paper (wood pulp), and no chlorine is used in manufacturing.
Because these plants grow so rapidly, they are easily replenished each year and are about as far from plastic and foam as you can get. This was a simple step toward sustainability and ensuring our products are Tree-Free.
MANUFACTURING
We know that sustainability in not just about plants and smarter products, it’s about people, jobs and energy. Our communities and facilities are part of our sustainability story. We have a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that intelligently crafts our fiber products into works of art. Not only that, we audit our manufacturers to the best social compliance standards going. The people that build our products work in safe, healthy spaces.
Best of all, we are bringing our molded fiber manufacturing technology to the US, so we can do what we do best, right here at home.
WASTE DIVERSION
Because we use only renewable materials, all our products are BPI Certified to be commercially compostable. That means that when you are done using one of our plates or bowls, you can compost it in a commercial compost facility.
Even if you can’t compost in your area, our products help shift everyone farther away from plastic and foam. By creating products that have great beginnings, middles, and endings, we’re leading the way forward. That is how we think about sustainability.
